FIATA participates in SME driven WTO Public Forum

The main act at this year's WTO public forum is Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs). The rise of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools has provided immense opportunities for SMEs to showcase their products in international markets.

It was noted by all speakers on the opening panel that SMEs faced difficulties in securing financing for trade, which limited their ability to export their product and grow their business. The strict lending requirements of financial institutions towards SMEs across local industries needing to trade is felt by the freight forwarding and logistics firms which experiences delays and trade slowdowns.
